Trust Eagle for loads large and small to Puerto Rico.

Eagle gives me such peace of mind! I can call them any time, even on holidays, and they will help me out. The staff is doing a great job. I’ve been here in Puerto Rico 20 years; I wish every facility I worked with was like them! They treat us as an important part of their business.

Talk to shippers and their customers in Puerto Rico about Eagle Logistics, and you’ll probably hear similar accolades about our customer service team—a friendly, diligent local staff that goes the extra mile to get shipments from the U.S. to island businesses, on time and intact. Eagle’s San Juan team provides end-to-end coordination of services, from mainland trucking to local delivery.

Behind that team, almost 1,300 miles away, is the heart and soul of what makes Eagle the freight forwarder of choice for shipments to Puerto Rico: a 55,000 square-foot warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida.

The warehouse receives hundreds of truckloads weekly and consolidates the freight into full containers for ocean shipments to San Juan.

Here’s what happens at the warehouse:

  • Three shifts unload trucks arriving from Sunday night through Friday afternoon. The cargo is mostly refrigerated food products. But Eagle handles almost anything—such as furniture, tires, generators, construction materials, and motorcycles.

  • Dry cargo can be stored for days in the warehouse, or loads received by noon on sailing days can be cross-docked for same-day shipment to Puerto Rico.

  • Perishables are usually received on the same day as containers ship (Tuesday and Friday). A lot of expertise is involved in shipping produce, including shrink-wrapping any spillage, coordinating inspections, and properly containerizing produce for ocean vessels.

  • The warehouse follows each customer’s loading guide, which specifies how to split products among containers and which SKUs they want consolidated in each container. Workers determine top and bottom loadings, with loose lightweight items on top. They also leave room for cool air to circulate.

  • For Eagle customers who want smaller shipments, Jacksonville can provide less-than-container- load shipments of all types of freight.

Like their colleagues in San Juan, the Jacksonville team takes pride in adding true value for every customer. Many firms will arrange shipments to Puerto Rico, but none have Eagle’s containerization capabilities and total commitment to customer satisfaction.
